ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. — In the early hours of December 5, 1979, 20-year-old Barbara Bockwith vanished from the campus of University of West Florida (UWF). Her disappearance has remained unsolved for over 40 years, a cold-case emblem of unanswered questions and enduring family heartbreak. 

The last known movements

• Bockwith was a student at UWF in Pensacola and reported missing after Dec. 5. 

• The only tangible evidence recovered was her red 1977 hatchback, found abandoned. 

• No confirmed sightings of Bockwith have been verified since her disappearance.
